What Foods Will Improve my Child’s Dental Health ?

January 20, 2014

Is Your Child’s Dental Health Affected by What You Eat?

To keep your child’s dental health on the right path, help them eat right and make sure they are getting the nutrients they need. This will affect the growth and development of their mouth early on in their life.

Without the proper nutrients they need to stay healthy, your child can be prone to gum disease later on and cause missing teeth in their adult years. Be careful to make sure they get proper grains and meats needed to keep a full and healthy mouth of shiny white teeth.

How Parents Influence their Child’s Dental Health

Parents play a big role in their child’s life and development. Purchasing foods such as, veggies and yogurt rather than chips and candy can make a major difference in their health. You should allow your kid’s to see you eating healthy food and make them fun and kid friendly.

Some tips for parents getting their kids to eat healthy are, turn healthy eating into a game and allow your kids to be creative with their veggies or healthy food. If they need to make a volcano of mashed potatoes and broccoli trees let them. In the end when it comes to their dental health the creativity will pay off. Make sure each night and morning before and after they get up they brush their teeth, and prepare good and nutritious meals for your family.

Don’t Be Afraid to Say No to the Wrong Foods

  • Stay away from junk foods and candy.
  • Chips and candy let sugar stay around in the mouth and create cavities.
  • Soda is also a major cause of tooth decay and cavities. Instead of soda let your kids have a glass of milk or water.
  • Make sure you schedule regular dentists appointments and stay on top of your children’s brushing habits and flossing.
