As baseball season rounds the corner, our minds drift toward Opening Day, sunny afternoons at the ballpark and coming together to celebrate and support our favorite team. This year there’s a different kind of Opening Day celebration happening and it’s not at the ballpark.
Dr. Kerry Goad and his team are partnering with The Food Network to support the fight against hunger with an Opening Day celebration. “We gather together in unity and support of our favorite team every year and this year we want to take that same passion and unity to help those in need right here in our community,” explains Dr. Goad.
The Food Network has been helping the Dallas County area meet basic needs since 1985, assisting over 38,000 adults, children and seniors last year alone. The Network is a community service organization that primarily assists people dealing with a crisis and helps with temporary shelter, rent, utilities, food, clothing, counseling, medical, and financial assistance.
Many people who are dealing with a crisis do not have a chance to eat foods that would provide them with the vitamins and nutrients they need. “A diet that lacks proper nutrition can make it more difficult for tissues in your mouth to resist infection. Eating habits do have an affect on our overall health as well as our oral health,” explains Dr. Goad, “We feel grateful to be a part of this community and welcome this opportunity to give back and help our families have healthy smiles and lives.”
Richardson Family Dentalcare is inviting the greater Richardson community to bring a non-perishable food donation and come out for Opening Day Festivities on Tuesday, April 5th from 4:00pm to 6:30pm.
